Roberto is a seasoned professional and leader with a truly international background. He was born in Mexico, grew up in Hong Kong, completed his tertiary education in the US and UK, and have worked in UK, Hong Kong, SE Asia and China.
Roberto possesses over 35 years of MNC experience in sales/marketing and human resources field. His last role was the Greater China HR Director of Parker Hannifin, a Fortune 250 US multinational in Automation Technology, with 14 plants and 8 branch offices in China. Prior to this, he had assumed the China HR Head of two leading European companies, namely DSM (a Holland multinational chemical company), and Roche China Ltd. (the China Holding Company of the Swiss Pharmaceutical Group Hoffman La Roche). Roberto had also successfully built his early career in sales & marketing management at Roche Asia-Pacific for 8 years before transitioning to HR.
He was responsible for building up the HR function, establishing the HR policies, procedures and programs in China for Parker Hannifin, DSM and Roche, and providing leadership and guidance/support to the affiliates’ HR managers and businesses leaders in China. He also has led the HR due diligence and integration of numerous M&A cases in China and Asia as well as some site closure and consolidation projects.
Roberto was awarded the honor as one of the 10 Excellent HR Managers of China. All the 3 companies he has served before had been recognized with Best Employer, Top Employer or Best HR Team Awards during his service period. He was also the Chairman of the HR Working Group of the Shanghai European Chamber and the Chairman of the China Chemical HR Club.
Roberto has been a member in the Management Board of the different companies he has served and is well recognized as a highly strategic business partner by senior leaders. He has extensive experience in organization development & re-structuring, and in training, counselling, coaching and mentoring the talents and executives of his companies, helping them to advance in their careers or transitioning into their new roles. The senior managers and leaders whom he has supported in the past have all benefited from his coaching and become even more effective in their professional life.
Roberto has just retired from his full-time Corporate role, and with all his previous career achievements and a strong passion to help younger talents and executives in tapping their unlimited potential, Roberto is fully set off to pursue his exciting journey as an Executive & Career Coach and HR Consultant.
Roberto obtained his bachelor degree and MBA degree from Bath University and Bradford University of England respectively. He is a Certified Trainer in Interview Skills and Leadership Skills, and a Certified Career Transition and Development Coach and an Executive Coach. He has been living in Shanghai for more than 24 years, and speaks fluent English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and some Spanish.
