Harold Ball is an analytics strategy consultant and serial entrepreneur, with over twenty years of experience applying advanced math to solve big data problems in marketing, finance and operations. His work focuses on helping companies to design and implement platforms that collect, commercialize and optimize the value of data assets.

Harold holds BA, MS and PhD degrees in Economics and Econometrics, and served on the faculty of Georgia State University in Atlanta, where he co-founded the Institute for Insight and Big Data Lab in the Robinson College of Business. He also worked in Telecom marketing for BellSouth/AT&T, and in financial services risk modeling and consulting for Experian and CRIF.

Since 2015, Harold has been living and working in China, serving as a consultant, as Chief Analytics Officer in WPP China, and as Head of Data and Analytics for Dentsu Aegis Network. His primary work has involved setting up and managing very large scale DMPs for programmatic digital advertising, primarily based on SDK mobile data, and helping to drive a data-driven culture within his employers. He currently leads the data and analytics team in IKEA China, building data and analytics capabilities to support omnichannel marketing, 020 integration, advanced applications of AI and ML, and the further digitization of IKEA’s home furnishings business.

Harold has founded two startups in the USA, SRI Analytics and FivexFive, and successfully exited both companies. During his time in China, he also cofounded and developed a data-related Joint Venture between WPP and Getui, a mobile big data company in Hangzhou.
