Helen Yang is an executive coach and seasoned Management Consultant who advises clients on the strategic design and improvement of business operations including organization and processes. Helen has a passion for guiding executives and organizations through major change, such as restructuring, post-merger integration, and new operating models. She leverages her strength in building and empowering teams coupled with structured and balanced approaches supported by robust business processes. She is a strong advocate of driving accountability and results, while motivating teams to achieve the highest standards of performance.
As a global executive who has successfully led diverse businesses and functions in international and emerging markets, Helen delivers global strategy and change initiatives and has a deep understanding of the end-to-end value chain. Helen achieved profitable growth as a business leader with P&L responsibility and managed various corporate functions on a global and regional level. Her functional experience includes corporate strategic planning, sales, marketing, supply chain, customer service, human resources, product development, and process engineering. She has a proven ability to partner, influence, and navigate ambiguity and complexity across regions and functions in global matrixed organizations.
Helen enjoyed a rich career at DuPont, rising from research engineer at a manufacturing plant in the United States to regional and global leadership roles in various business units and locations. Upon transferring to China in 2002, Helen was the Asia Pacific Regional Director for Imaging Technologies, a strategic business unit in DuPont. She then assumed the role of Managing Director of Corporate Operations for Greater China. Later she was appointed Asia Pacific Planning & Improvement Director for DuPont Performance Coatings, followed by the role of Corporate Marketing & Sales Director for Greater China, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. She was a member of the global leadership team to drive the transformation of Customer Service and subsequently became Director for Asia Pacific. Upon the merger of DuPont and Dow, Helen led the integration of the organizations and processes as the Electronics & Imaging Customer Service head for Asia Pacific. She then assumed responsibility to lead a global initiative to step-change customer experience for Electronics & Imaging.
Helen was elected to the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce Shanghai and currently serves on several non-profit boards. Recognized for her rich experience, Helen was invited to be a speaker at numerous conferences, including the American Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, University of Illinois Alumni Association, Women in Business, China Women Global Economic Summit, and corporate forums.
Helen earned a Ph.D. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors. Her major certifications include the Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma, Knowledge Intensive Growth Program from the Wharton School, MMS Worldwide Institute Transformational Executive Coach Certification, and the International Coaching Federation Associate Certified Coach.
In her leisure time, Helen enjoys exploring diverse cultures and landscapes, and as such, has travelled extensively around the world. She has an interest in history, art, music, and regularly attends lectures and other engagements in these areas.
