I coached high-potentials at my previous corporate jobs. They had various challenges.
How did I help coachee to managing conflict:
1. To help coachee see his/her emotions first so that they could see what's blocking them from seeing the real issue.
2. To help coachee realize what it is that they realy want as result, this is to help them focus and put their energy on what really matters to them
3. To help coachee to see other people's needs, to realize what the other party wants and cares. A sustainable relationship must be based on mutual benefits. When this is seen and realized, the coachee would be able to know what to do.
4. To challenge / inspire coachee find their solutions and action plans for fixing the conflict, as they are now ready from both energy and mindset perspective to fix the conflict.
5. To ask coachee reflect what’s learned in this conflict, to encourage coachee to be thankful to the conflict which gives him/her opportunity to grow.
