With nearly 25 years of experience in product business leadership and innovation, Martin has spent his career perfecting his innovation leadership and entrepreneurship skills. Martin started his career with Procter & Gamble, working in their New Product Innovation organization across a few different brands. After 10 years with P&G, he joined Avery Dennison, and spent 10 years leading and developing innovation organizations in the US, EU and Asia Pacific. While with Avery Dennison, Martin moved to China in 2006 to start up their Asia Pacific Innovation Center. Martin developed a strong passion for working with local innovation focused organizations in China, and left Avery Dennison in 2012 to start his own innovation consulting practice focused on teaching and training students and entrepreneurs. Since launching his own practice, Martin has led and supported the development of award-winning innovation programs for companies like Haier, PingAn, Huawei, Cisco, and more. In 2013, the Open Innovation program the he developed at Cisco was generating more than a 14X increase in the business impact value for the firm. This program was recently awarded the HBR/McKinsey M-Prize for “Innovating Innovation”.
Currently living and working in Shanghai, Martin has been developing, building and teaching innovation leaders and organizations in China for nearly a decade. Starting in 2007 as the Director of Innovation at Avery Dennison, Martin donated his time to lead Avery Dennison’s university scholarship program, and provided short courses on innovation and entrepreneurship at Jiatong University, and South China University of Technology. In 2011, Martin started providing open enrollment courses at Hult International Business School in Shanghai, and in 2013, took on responsibility for their overall Innovation and Entrepreneurship program. Since then, Martin has been developing and teaching the innovation and entrepreneurship programs at a few different business schools and executive education programs in Shanghai. Martin has been coaching leaders and executives since 2012, and developed unique coaching programs for firms like BASF and Cisco.
