With over 30 years of strategy, business development, sales, marketing, product and consulting experience primarily in the Internet, digital media and technology space, Scott has been successful developing and growing businesses in the United States and Asia (including Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Singapore). Doing business in Asia since 1999 and living in China since 2005, his experience includes senior executive roles in public companies, start-ups, and global consultancies.
Scott made a purpose-driven career shift in 2017 to become a certified scale-up business coach, delivering MEANINGFUL IMPACT helping entrepreneurial CEOs (and their leadership teams) who are passionate about growth to successfully scale their businesses with greater ease, speed and confidence. He also serves on multiple advisory boards; is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Shanghai American School; and is an Adjunct Partner (Entrepreneur in Residence + CEO Mentor) at SOSV – Orbit Startups.
In his last operational executive role as Executive Vice President and China Managing Director for Thoughtful Media Group, Scott successfully launched China’s first and largest multi-channel network (MCN) of online video creators, which helped a roster of blue-chip brand clients to reach and influence consumer audiences. Earlier, as Partner in charge of Gallup Consulting’s Shanghai office, as Director of McKinsey’s Insights China, and as Senior Strategy Director, China for WPP’s Wunderman, he led organizations that helped Fortune 500 clients make key strategic decisions for their China businesses.
Scott holds a BA in economics from the University of California at Berkeley and he received both an MBA in finance and a JD from UCLA. He is fully conversational in Chinese, and lives in Shanghai with his wife (who is an entrepreneur building a children’s fashion brand) and daughter. Beyond business, Scott loves to take both his girls on plenty of dates; he likes to get out on the tennis court and golf course; and he serves as President in his local Beefsteak & Burgundy club.

The leaders I coach value my entrepreneurial leadership experience, my unwavering integrity, and my genuine candor. The reality is that my coachees often have the right answers. My job as a coach is to ask the right questions to help them get unstuck and/or to help them discover things that are in their blind spots.
With regard to the specifically noted areas, my experience includes:
Developing Exceptional Presentation Skills - For years I've been a sought after keynote speaker, panel moderator and forum chair. I've honed my own presentation skills and style, and coached many business colleagues, clients and mentees to hone exceptional skills and styles of their own.
Developing Strategic Vision - A trained strategy consultant and certified strategy development coach, I've led and/or facilitated the development of strategic visions for dozens of organizations. With clients, I leverage proven frameworks for developing clear, simple, picture-based strategies that align, engage and empower their teams to make confident decisions.
Drive Corporate Innovation - As an entrepreneur (building my own start-ups) as well as an intrepreneur (building new ventures within larger companies), I've learned a lot about the dos and don'ts of driving corporate innovation. In particular, I've grasped the importance of building an innovation culture. This is an area on which I've been invited to give several keynote speeches.
Drive Digital Marketing Strategy - As a former Senior Strategy Director at Wunderman (WPP's largest digital agency), I led teams that helped a wide range of clients develop their digital marketing strategies (when the "digital" distinction was still somewhat relevant).
Driving Organizational Change - In the mid-90s I worked on a couple organizational change management projects while at Deloitte Consulting. The learnings from those projects have been foundational for several change initiatives I've led and/or managed over the years since.
