Jack has over 12 years of venture investment and technology innovation experience. He's currently managing director of Temasek Life Sciences Accelerator (TLA), looking after technology commercialization, startup incubation and early stage venture investment in agri-food tech and bio-health tech sectors.
Before joining TLA, he was Vice President and Investment Lead at Singapore Economic Development Board Investment (EDBI) covering investment activities in the space of AI, big data, IoT, enterprise software, AR/VR and other emerging technologies. One of his investment portfolio, an AI-powered big data startup Paxata, was successfully acquired by the industry leading automated machine learning platform DataRobot in 2019. Prior to EDBI, he was Investment Director at Vertex Ventures and then Fosun International focusing on consumer tech, Clean Tech and other technology investment. He sat on the board of various high-growth tech companies and has supported them on forming and executing various business and organizational strategies.
Jack is also a serial entrepreneur, with his latest experience involved in building an enterprise software corporate venture in China. As the CEO of this venture, he successfully raised multi-million dollars worth of funding from external investors and brought the business from scratch to cash flow break-even in 3 years.
He started his career in ST Engineering, the largest vertically integrated engineering group listed on Singapore stock exchange, as an aerospace engineer. During his 5 years in the organization, he rotated through various ranks in engineering, production, program management, business development and sales & marketing, and gained well-rounded experience throughout the corporate business cycle.
Jack was born and raised in Shanghai and finished his high-school studies in Singapore before obtaining his bachelor and master degree in mechanical engineering in University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Massachusetts Institute of Technology respectively.
He enjoys reading in his free time, especially in corporate strategy and business case studies of companies around the world.

I had coached various executives on a 1-to-1 basis throughout my venture investment career, usually in the capacity of board director. The actual business situation various from industry to industry but they mostly fall within two categories, business strategy and people matters. The challenges faced by the executives mostly centered around some form of "change": change of external and internal business environment, change of competitive landscape, change of organization structure and change of people. I often observed that it is the fear of loss associated with the change that caused the problem. To tackle these changes, the executives would first have to overcome their fear of loss.
