Michael Lee is an experienced executive with strong expertise in P&L performance, business turnaround, go-to-market business models and sales & marketing performance improvement. With a proven track record and battle ground tested experiences in Fortune 500 multi-national and global Chinese companies, Michael has unique qualifications to coach and consult with expatriate executives who lead businesses in Asia Pacific/China, Chinese executives who develop and execute global strategy, as well as Chinese companies that aspire to expand business internationally. In addition, Michael leverages his deep understanding of eastern and western cultures and business practices to achieve maximum impact when working across the globe.
Michael was the Global Chief Commercial Officer of a Chinese start-up company, SUNMI Technologies Ltd., the industry leader in Android Point of Sales system and payment, both hardware and software. His direct reports included key functions such as Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, After-Sales Service, and Commercial Project Management. Michael led the expansion and accelerated growth of the business beyond China to Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East & Africa, North America and South America. Overseas revenue grew +200% in a single year and is on track to grow another 50% in 2021. Global revenue grew +40% despite of COVID-19 challenges in 2020 and is well positioned to grow +50% in 2021. Global operating profit grew from -USD30M to +USD15M in 2020 and is expected to grow +200% in 2021.
Prior to that, Michael worked at Honeywell International, where he held a number of senior leadership roles. He later became the Chief Commercial Officer for Honeywell-Building Technologies Asia Pacific, accountable for key commercial functions such as Sales, Marketing, Strategy, Commercial Excellence, Customer and Product Service. Michael was the Asia Pacific Vice President and General Manager for two major business units.
Before joining Honeywell, Michael worked at DuPont in various leadership roles in China and the U.S. Key positions he held at Honeywell and DuPont include:
- Vice President, Marketing and Commercial Excellence, Honeywell Automation & Control Solution Asia Pacific
- Vice President and General Manager, Honeywell Sensing & Controls Asia Pacific
- Vice President and General Manager, Honeywell Environmental & Energy Solutions Greater China
- Business Director, DuPont Glass Laminated Solution Asia Pacific
- Business Manager, DuPont Advanced Fibers North America
Over the 30+ years of his career, Michael has acquired extensive expertise in a broad range of industries including:
- Point of Sales system and Payment (Hardware and Software)
- Automation and Controls
- Automotive
- Electronic sensors and switches
- Green solar energy
- Industrial specialty polymers and packaging
Michael holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne. He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, where he graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors. Michael also received several top management trainings and awards:

In his leisure time, Michael enjoys exploring diverse cultures and nature through extensive travels around the world. He has strong interests in financial investment and real estate investment. He is a member of several investment clubs in China and the US.
