Introduction

Young 's career spans more than 30 years with international heavyweights including Dupont, Invista (a subsidiary of Koch Industries) and PCT International. At Dupont and Invista, Young quickly established himself as a global expert on high-speed production technologies for melt-spun fibres. He invented and led a global team that developed to commercialize a state of-the-art production platform first in Singapore (where he lived and worked as an expat for 4 years), then in Taiwan. He led several major initiatives to make significant improvements in quality and reduce manufacturing costs affecting $1B of product revenue. He was recognized as a gifted and extremely persistent problem solver, receiving Dupont’s prestigious Engineering Excellent Award.

Young transitioned into a senior management role when he joined PCT in 2008. Serving as COO/SVP and EVP, he played a key role in affecting major improvements in practically all aspects of PCT’s operations, turning around quality, reducing manufacturing and supply chain costs and cycle time, and improving competitiveness relative to much larger competitors. Young spent extensive time working with local teams in Yantai China during this period.

Young holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University and an MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M. In his spare time, Young learned the game of golf in Singapore and has been hooked ever since. His other interests are fishing, outdoor activities, and cooking.

Young has no previous formal coaching training or experience. However, throughout his career, he has coached and mentored many subordinates as well as young professionals who seek his advices - as often it was a key part of his job responsibilities. He has always enjoyed mentoring and coaching because he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experiences with others, and especially seeing young bright professionals with strong work ethics to succeed with minimal help.
